Bihar: The State Health Society of Bihar has mandated IL&FS Education to conduct training programmes for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in Bihar.

ASHAs are local health volunteers recruited by the Panchayati Raj Institutions for facilitating healthcare services in a state and are governed by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) guidelines.

Under this initiative IL&FS Education has been mandated to train around 38,000 ASHAs across 19 districts in the state. The training programme has been divided into three modules and the entire duration of the training programme is 18 months.

IL&FS Education has also engaged the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (The Union, Paris) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN, Geneva) to make this training programme more value rich and effective.
